The Trenton TorqueNados

We are The Torquenados, and we are proud to be competing in our 12th season of Competitive Robotics. Our most notable achievements include winning the prestigious Chairman’s Award in 2016 and the FIRST Michigan State Championship in 2022. Our team has also won awards for Spirit, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Quality, and Excellence in Engineering. We are also proud to be known throughout the district as one of the friendliest and most cooperative teams to work with.

Team Information

The Trenton Torquenados were formed in 2013 and maintained a team of 30-40 participants until COVID-19 abruptly ended our 2020 season. We returned to the build room in September of 2021 with half of our former sized team, but we had even more passion and drive than before. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive team where each member contributes their own unique talent.

As a member of Detroit and Downriver Robotics Alliance, our team participates in team building activities, social networking challenges, fundraisers, and community outreach. This helps us to increase interest in our STEM program.

This season, we’ll be attending the the FiM District Woodhaven event and at the FiM District Saline event, along with hosting our own event, the Tornado Tumble!

FIM Woodhaven

At the FIM Woodhaven event, we placed 18th in qualifications and were not chosen for an alliance. However we were taken in as a replacement robot for alliance 2 in round 3 match 10, after team 5050, Cow Town Robotics’s robot became unfit for playing. We did not win any awards but we still put in our all, despite a malfunctioning intake and all that stood before us, it truly was a gracious day. Glory be to the Trenton TorqueNados!
