On Saturday, November 11th, The JV TorqueNados attended our first event of the season at Forsythe Middle School in Ann Arbor, MI. We had a great time at the event, placing 16 out of 36. Throughout the event we showed improvement and growth from our robot to our ranking. Although we didn’t win every match, we learned every match, and we are more prepared than ever for our next event, FiM Bedford.
“We will take everything that we learned back to the build room this week to make improvements and practice with the goal of a top ten finish next weekend.”
Sheryl Boller, Buisness Mentor
Although we started the event with an untimely robot malfunction, we were proud to fix our robot and move on, winning our second match. Events aren’t just about the matches, however. We were glad to work with other teams in the pit and, of course, collect buttons. At the conclusion of the event, we were proud to win the Design Award, awarded to teams that incorporate functional or decorative design elements into their robot design or otherwise express their creativity through their robot. As we move into our next event, we are already improving our driving and operating skills, and have made major improvements to our autonomous operation (i.e. auton).
We’d like to thank all of the FIRST in Michigan volunteers and the host teams at Ann Arbor for putting on this great event. We’d also like to thank our team parents and mentors for their support throughout the season. Congratulations to all teams involved- we can’t wait to see you @ FiM Bedford!
