On Sunday, September 10th, the TorqueNados participated in another off-season event, the Goonettes Invitational. This all-girls event was held at Woodhaven High School and hosted by Goon Squad FRC 3604. It was our first competition of the school year. We did pretty well for having had almost no practicing time, we held steady around the middle of the rankings. We were the final pick of the number one alliance, and went on to get second place in the competition. It was a very competitive event, with several high-ranking teams participating. It was a successful start to our season and we hope to improve our skills throughout the season.
The drive team consisted of some existing members but also had some new faces. This off-season event gave some of our members an opportunity to gain more experience and step outside their comfort zone. A part of what makes the Goonettes event special is that your drive team must be all-girls, which requires that your drive team shifts to include people that might often not be on the drive team.
We would like to thank Woodhaven High School and the Goon Squad for their invitation to this event. The team would also like to thank our parents and other team members for their attendance and support. Congratulations to our drive team for their hard work and we thank them for their dedication to the team!
